What if the premium feel of a Lufthansa flight didn’t begin on board, but already at the gate? That’s precisely the idea behind the airline’s new lounge at Newark Liberty International Airport in New York. Step inside the 600 m² space and you’ll be welcomed by warm oak tones, soft lighting and a streamlined layout—that brings the elegance of their aircraft interiors to the ground.
At the heart of the new look? Our bestseller Unilin Master Oak Light Natural. Used throughout the lounge, the material adds a calming, natural touch to the busy airport environment. It looks and feels exactly like oak veneer, but comes with extra’s: better scratch resistance, easy maintenance and a more budget-friendly alternative to veneer or solid wood.
The choice for Master Oak was a deliberate one, Kitzig Interior Design & Mancini Duffy explain: “We had to balance visual appeal with practical demands. A high-traffic lounge needs to stay beautiful under pressure, and that’s where durability matters. On top of that, this won’t be the last lounge we remodel. Since you can deliver the same design worldwide, we don’t have to worry about regional differences. That kind of consistency makes things a lot easier.”
Next in line: John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).
