Show-stopping design: two eye-catchers at Salone del Mobile

16/04/2025

Salone del Mobile in Milan? A trade fair where people breathe design, soak up inspiration and ask themselves ten times over: why doesn’t my living room look like this? Among a cavalcade of future design classics and the latest interior design trends, we came across two installations that literally took our breath away. And – no coincidence – with our materials in the starring role!

The leading design expo

Salone del Mobile is the number one international furniture and design fair where architects, designers and interior design enthusiasts from across the globe meet. From furniture to materials, from installations to innovations, this is where you discover the current and future trends in the world of interior design. And our materials are well represented again this year, thanks in part to our trusted partner BLOK Plaatmateriaal.

MDF – but the magical version

Designer Arno Hoogland is presenting his very first solo show in Milan and it is definitely worth visiting. His installation Deus Ex Machina invites his CNC machine to think along, make decisions and even share the limelight. The result is a futuristic temple, constructed from sculptural blocks of our Fibralux Biobased MDF: the world’s first MDF board based on 100% reclaimed wood and plant-based glue. Arno doesn’t see MDF as a simple building material, but as a canvas full of potential.

Getting lost in style

In the iconic Palazzo dei Giureconsulti, Carina Riezebos, Creative Director at BLOK Plaatmateriaal, showcases UNRAVEL this year: a sensory installation full of stairs, doors and surprising perspectives. Here you don’t look up but ahead – to a world filled with confusion, temptation and refreshing material combinations. The installation not only features our new Master Oak (Green) and Supermat decors (Fresco and Conifer) but also the textile look Weave slate grey, creating an air of mystery. UNRAVEL is a maze you happily get lost in and, at the same time, it pays tribute to how playful and versatile panel material can be.

These high-quality materials are a tribute to the field of interior design. This is our way of showing our appreciation and respect for the craft, the designer and the manufacturer.”
